Question Why are there so many chinese websites hosting the same novel?

I've been mtl-ing some chinese novels that have either been dropped, or picked up but the tl-er has started over from the beginning for some reason, or im already up to date and the novel isnt interesting enough for me to care if im reading a competently written version, or indecipherable nonsense.

When I've looked up the novel, i always get mutiple results? For instance, I searched 這個炮灰我罩了, and the same novel is hosted, word for word, on fpzw.com, txt101.com, sto.cx, jjxwc.net, danmei.la, lewenn.com, xbiquge.cc, and so many other sites.

Is there one OFFICIAL site that the author uses, and the rest are piracy mirrors? Are there multiple legitimate platforms that cater to different audiences, so authors create accounts for every site and post their story on all of them, to maximise their reach? Is it some mix of the two? Are there multiple sites for censorship reasons, ie for different jurisdictions, and so that if an author wants to post an illicit scene, it is covered by international law, instead of chinese law? Is it about censorship, but so that if the government clamps down on one site, readers and the authors still have some backups to use?

Jjwxc is the official one. The rest are aggregator sites.

Not sure about that particular novel, but from what I remember being said in previous discussions here, I don't think it is that unusual for webnovels to be licensed out to be republished on multiple sites.

There's probably one or at best a few sites that the author has some actual connection with for said novels, but the others are likely piracy sites.

First thing, there is no copyright in there, I can sell YOUR novel and you can't do shit about it (legally). It's not piracy because piracy is not a concept that they understand in China.
