    Read my quoted post below:

The author is basically aiming for a chapter release once every 1-2months or even less. As less frequent as he can to avoid breaking the terms of his contract with Zongheng. If he achieves the minimum quota of Zongheng-Moon-Tickets for the month, he can choose not to release a single chapter in that month.

How'd he lose the rights and royalties to adaptations of his work? ... Y'know, from what I've heard in the past, adaptations are usually a hell of a lot more profitable than the webnovel by itself. If he's not getting paid for them, then he's writing for pennies while others get rich off his work (relatively speaking). I'd be pissed too, if I was him.

Maybe because evil corporate lawyers working for large Media business conglomerates exist? And CN might have less beneficial laws protecting the rights of authors as compared to JP/KR. Not sure how the law works for them all.

Also another point to note, Tencent seems to be buying up obscure Xianxia/Xuanhuan novel titles and adapting them to Anime/Mobile-games. After the adaptation, only the storyline of the initial chapters are kept, after that it's all completely different storylines and world building mechanics.

Alternatively, it could be bad business decision on Mars Gravity's part, if he traded some of the rights just to make live appearances on TV/media. It was reported by reader-fans on Zongheng that Mars Gravity released around 5 chapters within a single week this year because he was invited to make a live appearance on some CN TV channel. But after that TV appearance, he started his hiatus of releasing only 1 chapter per month.

That's kind of where all the weird rumors started like Mars Gravity will be following in footsteps of authors like "Mad Snail":
    • Only release the bare minimum number of chapters per month according to existing contract.
    • Switch to a new writer pseudonym and start a novel title.
