Is there a reason for a lack of Korean BL Novels translated in NU? Currently, most BL novels here are translated from Chinese. Is it because of problems in licensing or is there another reason?

Luckily, there's more than enough KR fujo-bait novels to keep you going. :blobpeek:

It refers to the practice of attracting/tempting fujoshis with the constant teasing of a potential relationship between two males for fanservice and/or more views. It's super effective!

    Hint: Kuroko no Basuke.

My impression on the korean works not just novels is that they are traditional and things like gay relationship(which is contrary to korean tradition) are rare and have a small niche.

Which ones??? :aww: I want to be baited :cookie:

Maybe? I think they're pretty strict in KR novels, I remember even Pocky Empire stopped putting translations on their website due to this.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, The Novel's Extra, Trash of the Count's Family... any popular KR novel, for that matter. :sweating_profusely:

KR publishers are scary. They crackdown on unlicensed translations and piracy so bad they started doxxing groups in their discord. I would NOT want to cross paths with one lmao. :blobangel:

It was already mentioned, but ... Korean authors and publishers are crazy protective when it comes to raws and translations. :blob_pout:
I remember someone shared a couple raw links, and within a few days, the link didn't work / the site was shut down. They're so fast it's scary!

The best example is Yowashi no pedal or whatever that biking anime was.

The same with the swimming anime.
    Zero female characters lol

Lack? Everytime I find a novel with a good synopsis, there will always be a jumpscare with that g*y shit as it starts to get good.

Because almost nobody knows Korean. That's basically it.

Chinese have a huge amount of Chinese descendants.
Japanese have a lot of weebs.
Korean has... Some people that like the language I guess?

It's not that there aren't many Korean BL being translated, there just aren't many Korean novels being translated at all.

I would be ok with fujo-bait novels if there are fanfics of my ship to satisfy my desire...but the thing is Korean novels rarely have English fanfics. Ugggh.

Or any sports anime for that matter.
I mean in the BL novel community, compared to Chinese and Japanese BL novels, Korean BL novels are really lacking in quantity.

But why is it when I'm in weibo BL accounts, all they're posting were Korean BL novels? :blobthinkingsmirk:
Also a lot of the better BL comics were Korean manhuas or webtoons

Hmm I prefer novels instead of manhua/webtoons so I was looking for those specifically. But yeah, in terms of BL comics, manhuas are on the trend lately.

There are a lot under showbiz genre. The TL speed is the worst when it comes to KN novels though.
