Doubt there will be a 'WW3'. If there is any kind of fight I think it will be a series of internal conflicts across many countries focused on religious beliefs. Thread is posted in the wrong general area btw.
- joker's corner - ww3 will happen, after years of small scale warfare a mutated toxic rat will kill leaders across the globe. that will cause a chain reaction where missiles will fly more often than paper planes in class..... after a few countries are exterminated the survivors will regroup and create a new power taking lands from nearby states. after a few years it will settle but approximately 2/5 of the global population would be dead and 1/6 of previously fertile ground would be razed dead... - reality corner - well ww3 not gonna happen, if it reaches that point an h-bomb or similar would fly and that's it.....

So like we are right now? btw, Russia, china, and N. Korea may threaten war at any time, but won't go with it. The world is too globalized to start a war. China would go bankrupt without the US. N. Korea is tiny and Russia...no one really like Russia. ISIS will try to take over, but there are just too many people in the way for them to expand that far.
Yeah, I don't think we'll ever get past the state of a global cold war as long as nukes exist. Civil wars may happen, and if that happens on a large enough scale I could imagine someone taking advantage of the chaos but I'm starting to doubt people have the sort of fire necessary to spark a civil war left in them.
As for who would win, the US. We have the capital, the work force, and the weapons. We turned the tides in WWI and WWII just through our work force.
China will invade a bunch of South Asia countries to expand for population and resources or Russia invades a bunch of Eastern European countries just cause. Religious wars are a thing of past, Terrorists do what they do because they know they don't have enough people to start a war. Of course they would fight US and bunch of European countries plus maybe India. And China would win but Russia would lose.
I think he's implying that it would be an empty victory because the devastation would be so widespread. I also don't think that if there were a third world war that north america would be allowed to remain isolated from the conflict like they basically did in the past two.

Pyrrhic. If they actually fought someone on a scale which was big enough to be defined as a 'world war', the whole planet would probably get trashed. Only vs. Russia or China right now would be on a scale large enough for me to call it a 'world war'. If they're all on the same side, it wouldn't be a world war it would be a world steamroll
