Hello! I'm new here, and I am looking for Japanese BL light novel recommendations. I have read the more famous works by Aida Saki (Esu, Deadlock) and some by Konohara Narise, but was wondering if anyone knew of anything good but somehow sort of fell under everyone's radar (an example I know would be 'Shiro no Kanata he' by Masaki Hikaru). I'll be frank... I'm looking for interesting new projects to work on, so. I like books that are gritty, deal with serious issues, have dry humor and would be a heavier read when compared with the typical light novel. Many thanks in advance!

If you're cool with more than just JP novels then you can check out my reading list although some are not bl a large part of it is (I'm being lazy I know but it's like 4 am here and no sleep)
Not a lot of heavier reads right now to be honest. Most BL novels we have that are being translated at this stage are 30-50% fluff and comedy or smut.

I just love a good mix of drama and angst. All that bittersweet feels and then a good ending...a shame there ain't much... I personally liked Esu/S. But maybe...there's something better or along those lines? Idk~ *watches thread*
Have you tried Amai Wana de? That's quite heavy read i think or not (haven't finish it) and it's 1v2 so i put it on hold on my reading list

Uhh I forgot the author and now I rarely read JP BL (too much danmei to read) but I remember some of the tittle that I already read. I don't know if you already read it though. I won't write from Konohara Narise because you said you already read them. Violant of the silver is pretty good. (Although not much chapters translated as of now but it's pretty easy to MTL)
I'm assuming the one you read is Hako no Kana and its sequel, so I suggest her Utsukushii Koto and Love Times. The first one kinda have rushed ending for me, but the second is kinda nice idk. But tbh manga has more to offer when it comes to what you want for a light novel since manga gets translated more. Just look past the mainstream BL for a rather heavy read, they're buried there lol.
